Annual Fundraisers
From our Greenhouse in September comes the Annual Chrysanthemum Sale. Many colors of potted mums are featured: yellow, red, orange, bronze, rose, peach, and white.
In the Fall families, alumni, and friends gather at Clelian Heights for the Annual Wholey’s Old Fashioned Chicken Barbecue. Over 600 guests are served a generous meal made with love. Without prejudice, it’s the best barbecue chicken around! The event hosts a basket raffle of dozens of beautifully decorated baskets filled with a variety of fun items including Pittsburgh family fun passes, lottery tickets, household and Décor items, restaurant and store gift certificates, Steeler-fan gifts, baskets of cheer, baskets for children, baskets for cooks and for bookworms, for learning and for sport, for gardeners and bakers, baskets filled with culture and art opportunities and baskets with games. You choose! There is also a silent auction that includes event tickets to Steeler and Penguin games, Myrtle Beach Golf, other Sports events and memorabilia, theater and entertainment packages and more. There’s something at this event for everyone’s tastes and interests. Come join the fun.
From our Greenhouse in December comes the Christmas Poinsettia Sale of red, pink, white, marble, and Jingle Bell Poinsettias in pot sizes, 4”, 6.5” and 8.5” and larger hanging baskets.
For gifts for any occasion–gifts that keep giving–give our Annual Lottery Calendar and your one-time gift has the potential to be a gift each day of the year! Each calendar begins on January 1st and has one 3-digit number with a winner each evening and bonus winnings on Wednesdays, Fridays, Christmas, and New Year’s! We follow the results too so winners are automatically mailed their good fortune. Calendars are available from August to December 31st or until they are sold out.
In late winter or early spring, Clelian Heights hosts its Annual Night at the Races, a fun event held at the Harrison Room, Harrison City. Join us and enjoy dinner, beverages and desserts with your friends while you follow the horse races, participate in winning one of the many beautifully packed theme baskets or door prizes and just relax and have a great time for an evening.
From our Greenhouse in the spring comes: the Easter Flower Sale featuring 6” plants of Tulips (pink, white,
yellow), Hyacinth (pink, white, purple), Mums (yellow, white and lavender), and Lilies. In early May the Mother’s Day Flower Sale features Geraniums in wicker baskets and a variety of floral hanging baskets (Fuschias, Impatiens, Begonias, Geraniums, and more). During the 3rd week of May the Spring Bedding Plants and Vegetables Sale includes a large variety of plants and vegetables.
Each month FOCHO ( Friends of Clelian Heights Organization), offers families and friends the opportunity to purchase scrip cards redeemable at their favorite stores for big savings. In the spring FOCHO also sponsors a Take-Home Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser–FOCHO volunteers man the Clelian kitchen and cook a hearty Italian dinner that is especially popular with school families and staff.
